OutKast Release Date

“Idlewild” is the name of both the album and the soon to be released film from the Atlanta duo. With the album in stores August 22, the film is slated for a release date of August 25. The first single from Idlewild, “Mighty O” has leaked on the internet already.

The delays are driving us all crazy, but it looks like August 22 is the set release date for the next album from OutKast.

“Idlewild” is the name of both the album and the soon to be released film from the Atlanta duo. With the album in stores August 22, the film is slated for a release date of August 25. The first single from Idlewild, “Mighty O” has leaked on the internet already.

Idlewild the film stars both Andre and Big Boi and is a musical set in Georgia during the prohibition era. The duo play owners of a speakeasy, dealing with the daily stresses of avoiding gangsters while pursuing their dreams of musical stardom.

Also appearing in the film are Macy Gray, Ving Rhames, Patti LaBelle and Ben Vereen. Idlewild will be directed by Bryan Barber, who you may know as the director of such OutKast videos as “The Whole World”, “Roses,” “Hey Ya!” and “The Way You Move.”

According to reports, the film has been halted for nearly two years in anticipation for the accompanying album, and now both projects can be released jointly.
