Timbaland has told a BBC radio station he is done with hiphop; the only work he’ll be doing within the genre is the next Jay-Z album [which has only been rumoured from comments by Kanye West and mixtape appearances].
“Hip-Hop is too easy for me,” Timbaland told 1xtra. “I’ve got to do something that’s challenging. The only thing I got coming out is Jay-Z. I’m not trying to do anything new. I’m trying to do pop. I’m trying to bring Top 40 into the hood.”
Timbaland recently released Nelly Furtado’s Loose on his own label, Mosley Music Group, with Interscope, A&M and Geffen Records. This, his first release on the label, debuted at No.1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.
