Reportedly Big Boi was all for the idea, but Andre was against it. This comes with a few instances which indicate a rift in the duo. Firstly Andre’s comments on touring, in particularly for to promote Idlewild. “It’s like wearing a Jheri curl in the fifth grade and then trying to wear a Jheri curl at 65, just to look like you did in the fifth grade. I don’t wanna keep throwing myself back into that. I don’t wanna be on stage rapping at age 40. I probably wanna be at some club, playing saxophone.”
Then came reports that after their contract with Arista expires, Andre is out of Outkast and will focus on his acting career. If his appearance in Be Cool is anything to go by, it may be a short one. [Andre scraps Hendrix movie]
Now, it’s not all bad news. Things must come to an end, and this would be the perfect way. Andre can fully launch himself into the acting world and Big Boi can continue staying strong in hiphop. Idlewild brings the best of both artists and what they want for the future.

[...] The film, Idlewild, looks really iffy to me. I’m foreseeing a major flop here. Check out the trailer for Idlewild here, looks nothing like the music video right? [...]
