HarperCollins, the publisher that took on Ghostface Killah’s auto-biographical book called Ironman: True Reflections from the Soul of the Wu-Tang Clan, has hit the rapper for the $200,000 advance. Ghost has failed to hand in a manuscript of the book since it’s January 2002 deadline.

“Now I’m writin books like Ebinezer”

From a HarperCollins press release:

“Ghostface Killah is one of the most innovative and talented rappers to emerge from the hip-hop genre. His three albums are undisputed classics, and his fan base is nothing less than evangelical in their fervor. Here, for the first time, his full story–and that of the infamous Wu-Tang Clan–is finally told.”

Since his contract with HarperCollins began, Ghost has released two solo albums, another with Trife plus the upcoming LP with MF Doom, the Theodore releases, a heap of guest appearances, DefJam: Fight for NY, and his own action figure. Did they really expect he had the time to right a book?
Not even the book’s co-writer, Elliot Wilson [Big Book of Racism, Book of Rap Lists], could keep this one afloat. I’m sure Ghost gave up on this book deal, like the morning after.
