During the trial Ashanti shamefully played the ‘I was young and following my dream’ card, but it paid off when a settlement was finally reached.
Ashanti should be very happy with the end result.
Her lawyers got her off scott-free on a technicality whereby the release contract agreed entitled Parker to a percentage of her sales from the record company she would work with directly after Parker. Since Jive Records dropped her almost immediately and didn’t make any money, the judge ruled Parker was owed nothing.
That’s …coldblooded.
