Carmen Bryan Hit With Lawsuit

Nas’ baby moms gets sued for plagiarism

OK you may have noticed we haven’t written a single thing about Carmen Bryan and her book It’s No Secret: From Nas to , from Seduction to Scandal - a Hip-Hop Helen of Troy Tells All. The reason we didn’t mention it? Well personally I think the whore can fuck off. If you had sex with people more famous than you, that doesn’t make you famous. I don’t like the idea that a glorified groupie can drop one book full of unconfirmed anecdotes in an attempt to drag down the careers and identities of people who have actually worked hard to get where they are.

So this is one part of the Carmen Bryan saga that I will report on; she’s getting sued. Allhiphop reported that in a lawsuit filed in Columbus, Ohio Federal Court, Tannell Davis claims to have written the book, which originally had a working title of Sex, Drugs and Hip-Hop…Oh, and Did I Mention Love?”

The lawsuit alleges that Davis originally wrote and copyrighted Sex, Drugs and Hip-Hop…Oh, and Did I Mention Love? and that Bryan plagiarized the original version and sold the new version to Simon & Schuster under the new titled It’s No Secret.

Davis is seeking ‘an undisclosed amount’ in damages.

Nas was recently asked for his opinion on the book at Allhiphop.com. “In this game, ya moms can come out and write a rhyme about you. It is what it is, what can you do? People are going to write books. I hope it’s a best seller. I hope she can buy twelve Bentleys off of it. Get out of my pockets and do her thing. I don’t respect when people jump out of their shirt; lose their shirt to cause controversy and stuff like that. That’s a different world. I’m staying out of it.”

So are we.

  1. I don’t know why everyone’s hating on Carmen Bryan’s story. She simply had a story to tell, and she told it. It’s not always about getting back at someone. It’s about simply telling your story. Ms. Bryan has done what MILLIONS of young ladies did…and that was to “be out there” when she was young. You mean to tell me no one has ever slept with more than one person before? No one has ever caught a STD and not know where they got it from? No one has ever been young and stupid before? She was young, and having fun. Not all of it was fun though. She suffered just like any one of our home girls would with a man whom they think they’re in love with. Why is the public so bent on taking the sides of Nas and Jay-Z? We complain about rappers degrading women, (especially Black women) in their videos, but yet, we instantly take the word of a couple of cowards who dissed a young lady in their songs. Who’s to say they were right? Who’s to say she was right? We don’t know because this is not our life. This is the story of Ms. Bryan. Furthermore, she did nothing wrong in telling her story. Her daughter has nothing to be embarrased about when she reads this book. This story is not as bad as some of the videos we watch, the video games children play, or the movies we expose our children to. She’s a good story teller if you ask me…whether all of it is true or not. I’m glad for her and I wish her nothing but success. It’s funny how judgemental the public can be when it’s someone else’s life they’re judging. Her story was not out to defame anyone or make anyone look bad. This was a story about her, and her life…not anyone else’s. Leave her alone and let her do her thing.

  2. Carmen you played the victim role well…But guess what a few of your chicken head freinds beat you too the book and some of us managed to get a blow by blow of the whole drama as it was going on…the only thing i didnt see in your book was the little episode between you and another Queens rapper .while you were with Nas and supposed to be in love with him…You look like a sad lonely groupie trying to make money , funny all your girls are married and happy and both Jay z and Nas are happy

  3. I think that Carmen WAS trying to defame NAs and JayZ. But I also think JayZ had it coming after he defamed her in “Supa Ugly” and called her out to the world. What was she supposed to do. She needed and deserved an outlet to tell her side, which I actually believe is the truth.
