Diddy Didn’t Know about Dog Fur in his Coats

Instead of the advertised ‘faux fur’ [fake fur], Diddy’s Sean John line of fur coats have traces of natural fur. Diddy claims ignorance.

Did I say dog fur? I meant raccoon dog fur.

Instead of the advertised ‘faux fur’ [fake fur], Diddy’s Sean John line of fur coats have traces of natural fur, claims the Humane Society of the United States [HSUS]. Diddy released this statement:

“I was completely unaware of the nature of this material, but as soon as we were alerted, the garments were pulled off the Macy’s floor and website. I have instructed our outwear licensee to cease the production of any garments using this material immediately. I appreciate the tireless work that the Humane Society does and would like to thank them for bringing attention to this issue.”

The HSUS is seeking $5000 per violation and will seize all mislabeled garments. If Sean John labels the coats as being made with raccoon dog, it would be alright since the species isn’t yet protected by the Dog and Cat Protection Act.
Raccoon dog is a wild dog native to Japan that resembles an American raccoon.

“You promised me dog or higher.”

This is apparently a big issue with a lot of manufacturers actually using this kind of fur for trimming on clothing.
