Nas Debuts At Number One, Sells 355,000 Copies

Nas has a big first week, debuts at number one on US albums chart

Congratulations go out to Nas for having one of the bigger first weeks this year. His eighth studio LP Hip Hop Is Dead moved 355,000 units in the first week of sales, debuting at number one on the US albums chart.

This is the third time Nas has debuted at number one, the first time being 1996’s It Was Written and the second time was 1999’s I Am ….

Nas’ previous album Street’s Disciple peaked at number 5.

What’s interesting is Jeezy’s “I’ll tell you what, we’ll look at them first week numbers and we’ll talk about it” comment while in his highly-publicised on-air battle with Monie Love. It’s come down to a tight finish, (Nas - 355K, Jeezy - 352K) but I’m lookin at them first week numbers and Nas got you beat Jeezy.
