In what may sadly be the final chapter in the Akon dry humping saga, the 34 year-old polygamist has apologised for his extraordinary dry humping display in Trinidad.

As previously reported (at length) by Groundup, Akon went ape shit on a fan in Trinidad on April 17. We then found out he was dropped for endorsements by cell phone carrier Verizon on May 6, and found out the humpee in the video was actually a pastor’s daughter on May 9.

Today it may be coming to an end, as Akon has issued a formal apology for the dry humping. We can only hope at this stage that he either does it again or new revelations concerning the hump come to light.

For now, here’s the apology.

“I want to sincerely apologize for the embarrassment and any pain I’ve caused to the young woman who joined me onstage, her family and the Trinidad community for the events at my concert,” Akon said.

“It was never my intention to embarrass or take advantage of my fans in any way, especially those under the age of 18. That is why we tried to make sure that the club did not admit anyone under 18 in the audience,” he said. “Somehow, that standard was not met.”
