Katalyst disses everybody

Invada Records mainman dishes the dirt on Mark, Amy, Nas, Will.I.Am… basically everybody but the Energiser Bunny.

Sydney instro hip-hop king Katalyst has fired potshots at all and sundry in an interview with respected dance music writer Cyclone Wehner (published in this week’s Inpress street paper in Melbourne).

The biggest target is production wunderkind Mark Ronson, who Katalyst feels is unworthy of the hype.

“He’s just a rich kid from London who’s got a bunch of producers working for him and he’s the go-to guy at the moment,” the Invada head honcho said.

Other objects of scorn include Amy Winehouse (who he dismisses as a “white girl” and more of an industry puppet than a genuine soul artist), Black Eyed Pea Will.I.Am (who he accuses of making music for acne-faced teenage girls [I coulda told you that]) and Nas (who he criticises for poor beat choices).

However, dude bizarrely heaps praise on Christina Aguilera’s Back To Basics album and Mos Def’s heavily derided Tru3 Magic effort. I guess controversy equals publicity - hence me typing this right now. Good work Katalyst!
