Even the guys I know out there hating on the Game acknowledge that dude can really pick a beat, and this track is no exception. Not sure why exactly this one’s called Pain, but it’s pretty dope anyway. Game teams up with Keyshia Cole to do his usual name-drop-o-rama, and Keyshia even joins in by shouting out Mary J Blige in the end. The name dropping is justified in this particular track as Game runs through his experiences growing up listening to hip hop since 1985.
Everyone gets a shoutout here, even Black Rob! Tony Toni Tone, New Edition, LL Cool J, Kool Herc, Naughty By Nature, Big Daddy Kane, Ice Cube … Surprisingly I don’t think I heard him say Dr Dre on this track. Seriously, he can do it! Three whole verses of Dre-free raps! Pat yourself on the back Jayceon, you did it.
This one’s from Game’s upcoming third and “final” album LAX, dropping June 24.
